The potential of material; it can inspire, dictate or maybe just be handy and available. Three Nashville Artist use material not normal thought of for art to create their work and explore ideas. Sourcing from found and excess, Artist Courtney Adair Johnson and Alex Lockwood look to reuse as a way to express and play with color. Taking bottle caps and transforming them into wearable art to abandoned credit cards being turned in to abstracts, material plays a key role in art and community for both artists. Manuel Zeitlin by trade is an Architect, grabbing what is handy to sketch; napkins. He is able to work spontaneously on the found substrate, letting them capture his answers to design and problem solving in the buildings that he creates. Looking at material differently and inspiring others to view what passes through their fingertips brings Material Potential together.
