COLOR YOUR LIBRARY

Nashville Public Library Foundation

Summer 2013

A seventeen-foot rainbow was constructed in the Nashville Downtown Library to help raise funds to support children’s literacy preceding the 2013 Nashville International Puppet festival.   The rainbow was made in three parts so that it could be transported easily aka ride in the puppet parade.  It was made with industrial foam then covered with recycled packaging paper.  The fundraising called on the children to participate by picking their favorite color and add it to the rainbow.  Each color was assigned to a character in Story Time, a weekly performance by Wishing Chair Productions that encourages the children to read and use their imagination.   Once decorated the rainbow was ready to ride on the largest float in the puppet parade.
